Acck! ebooks!

So, I'm probably (long story) taking this class focused on web2.0, scripting, etc. I've not taken an academic class focused on web2.0 technology, so I am excited about that. I certainly read enough about web2.0 and experiment with things (and can't count how many conferences, seminars, etc. I have attended), but it will be interesting to get a more scholarly perspective on it. Who knows, I may find my second master's degree program, too! It's also been quite a while since I've taken an academic class with a textbook. A real honest-to-goodness textbook ($$$).

Posting to blogger from google docs mostly works

Okay, I'm not sure I see exactly why it would be better to post from googledocs to your blog (especially, if you use blogger and are already logged in via your google login), but here goes:did you know that you can publish directly to a blog via google docs? http://googledocs.blogspot.com/2008/07/live-blogging-with-docs.html One caveat, though: scheduling/future posts do not seem to work via this method. Even if you edit the date in blogger, it doesn't force it to future post.

resources about web analytics

The Web Analytics Association web site is a reputable:http://www.webanalyticsassociation.org/..and then there is the web analytics forum in Yahoo Groups (seehttp://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/webanalytics/), if you can put up with a yahoo group..Of course, google bought my favorite web statistics/metrics service, urchin, a few years ago.

watch your TV anywhere

I actually heard about this from my sister. ;-)We were talking about watching television series while traveling and elsewhere. She mentioned that my niece only watches "TV" on her computer -- kind of a teen's version of Tivo, in that she can watch what she wants, when she wants.

Friday fun -- image editing online, new browsers & more

Flock aims to take searching and browsing on the 'net social. I dunno, sometimes I'm not interested in being social -- I just need to find something quickly. ;-)IE8 is now in beta and sounds like it will be rolled out with new versions of Windows and sounds like they will continue to move down the standards compliancy road.

Software usability IS important

Of course, if the functionality isn't there, I think people wouldn't buy it to begin with (I wouldn't!) but as anyone who has tried to learn to use a new software that comes with a booksized manual can attest.... usability does matter.

...But when it comes to realizing the value of a deployment, a new study finds software functionality barely matters.
