Life 2.0, Communication, time, and social media
Interesting thoughts on the changes and impacts of communication in a social media world:
Human Math * If I talk to 100 people on twitter for 6 minutes each, that’s 10 hours. * If I respond personally to 120 of the 600 or so emails and contacts I get a day, that’s 2 hours. * If I call 10 people for six minutes each to “catch up,” that’s another hour.100 small Twitter conversations120 emails.10 phone calls.13 hours. That’s not work. That’s not necessarily business (though touch and networking aids business).

Reasons I unfollowed you in twitter -- I don't really care if you are a mayor in 4square
Well, this isn't the post I was going to write, but I wandered over to twitter karma, which made me think a little about who I follow and who I don't in twitter ;-)I use twitter to share my blog, push status updates to facebook, linkedin, and googlebuzz, as well as connect/network with others. I am not in a contest to see how many twitter followers I can get (I think Brittny Spears is still no.Twitter demographics for my account (hmm. )
So, I ran across tweet sentiments which attempts to analyze your posts for things like positivity and educational level. LOL I guess it counts emoticons ;-) I do use slang, especially when posting to twitter (sigh... character limits) but I think it's funny that I'm somewhat flamboyant yet gender neutral. heh. How in the world do they come up with that? You'd think since girl (okay, GURL) is in my name, they would've tagged that one.- Read more about Twitter demographics for my account (hmm. )

Good use of social media (Charter)
Okay, I am neither endorsing or denouncing Charter Cable (I'll leave that to you!), but I do use it (have to have the high speed, you know). A few days ago I posted (tweeted) about how bad my network/reception was in my area. I had considered calling, but I just hadn't gotten around to it -- end of the day & too tired. I wasn't expecting anything -- it was just a vent.

Question of the Day: How to search your own tweets at twitter
So, this was MY question today: as in, I wanted to re-post a tweet about moonshine arts & literary magazine. I couldn't quite remember what I wrote and I didn't use a #hashtag. So what to do? How do you search your own twitter feed? There are lots of cool trending tools out there, but those are very limited in terms of timeframe. I personally like trendtastic.Per my usual M.O. I tweeted, buzzed, & facebook'd my request --even before I google'd, now what does that tell ya?
How many people on the 'net doing what?
I'm always leery of statistics as I have a hard time believing they are ever accurate... but whoa is this kind of cool:http://www.personalizemedia.com/media/socmedcounter.swfYou can read more about it here, including where the numbers come from.

twitter vs. google wave -- at conferences
I'm sure you have noticed people twittering during conferences that you have attended. This is an interesting article comparing google wave to twitter, in terms of how can be used to record and participate in a conference.

Bookmark in del.icio.us, send to twitter and, post to facebook
There are probably multiple ways to do this (friendfeed, google reader, etc.) but I'm already posting from twitter to facebook. So, throwing in another tool that I use (and love -- but really only as a personal bookmark service) del.icio.us, I discovered that I can now bookmark in del.icio.us and then send to twitter. Using the post from twitter, I can then send it right on over to facebook (using one of the twitter to facebook apps).
